SAN DIEGO
Gerry travelled to San Diego Zoo in January 2026 to work with the fantastic Elephant Care Team there, who are striving to provide optimal conditions for their herd of 3.1 African elephants. Gerry spent several days on presentations and workshops with the San Diego Zoo team and also got a wonderful tour of the brand new Elephant Valley in San Diego Zoo Safari Park.
ELEPHANT FRIENDLY TOURIST GUIDE 2026
World Animal Protection International released a new guide for tourists to help recognize responsible elephant venues that focus on education and conservation, rather than entertainment. Right now, thousands of elephants around the world are suffering in the name of tourism – you can be part of the solution that ends suffering and promotes venues that prioritize the holistic well-being of elephants.
